Bill Seyler

Throughout his career in the engineering and construction industries, Bill Seyler has served as a mentor for young engineering and construction professionals in Wake County.

Bill Seyler and his family have called Wake County home for more than 44 years. His wife taught in the Wake County Public School System and their four children graduated from Wake County Public Schools.

One of Bill’s greatest passions is working with young people and the organizations that provide them career direction. His passion for mentorship is inspired, in part, by Dennis Waitley’s Psychology of Winning, which states “we must plant shade trees under which we will never sit.”

For more than 20 years, Bill has served on Wake County’s School-to-Career Council, working to engage the business community in helping students understand the relevancy of their education. Serving as chairperson for the past 15 years, Bill has also led the Council in ensuring that school curriculum aligns with employer needs, so that students graduate with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the workplace.

Bill also serves as chairperson for the Raleigh/Durham ACE Mentoring Affiliate, a program that exposes high school students to the fields of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering. This program connects students with professional mentors from all three fields to help students decide if they would like to pursue these careers after graduation. Through ACE, he has worked with Wake Forest High School to recruit mentors for students in the Academy of Architecture, Construction and Engineering.

In addition to strengthening industry partnerships in Wake County schools, Bill is making an impact in higher education as a member of East Carolina University’s Construction Management Advisory Board and Executive Committee. The Advisory Board is made up of top professionals in the construction industry, who assist the school in preparing students for success in the construction industry.

Bill Seyler was inducted into the Wake County Public School System Hall of Fame in 2017 alongside Jerry O’Connor.
